Study Unit 4: Arts integration in the foundation phase
Hello again, yes me again. Although
it is the second time this week that I have talked to you. I just missed you so
much and wanted to share another study units work with you. My week is still
the same. Today everything settled down and I found my feet at the school.
Today I had to make my voice loud and be someone completely different. Kids
faces is so cute, but with the generation of today you must keep your guard and
don’t let those cute faces fool you.
Lets talk about the fourth study
unit.
Art… what a lovely way to relax,
find inner peace and just be yourself.
A lot of people barely know what art
means. They believe only an artist can make art. Only expensive painting you
buy in the store is art, but that is not true. Art is a diverse range of (and
products of) human activities involving creative imagination to express
technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power, or conceptual ideas.
Arts integration in the foundation
phase education contribute towards higher motivation levels among learners. It supports
academic achievement and socialization between students. It has been
shown that schools that incorporate art in the schoolwork, don’t struggle as
much with disciplinary as schools who don’t incorporate arts. Art allows the
teacher to promote and support the developmental needs of learners while
offering learners the opportunity to engage in teaching and learning activities.
These activities are fun, it fosters collaboration and connection and promotes
learners’ innate curiosity, creativity, and imaginative abilities.
Without I doubt
I think art in the foundation phase is extremely important. Students get to
know who they truly are. It encourages students to work harder and creatively to
solve problems and so much more. What does a small child want to do? They want
to play and have fun since they learn best in this way. By learning through
arts students get to obtain so much more than just what the curriculum states.
There is so
much I found so interesting about this study unit. There is nothing that I can think
of specifically but there was a couple of points that was stated that grabbed my
attention from the start. I love crafts and being just truly and freely myself
by showing my personality in my work. So, I believe this module will keep on surprising
me with things I have never even thought about.
There was
nothing specific that I have struggled with, only thing was to keep my eyes
open during the day since the workload is so heavily sitting on our shoulders.
I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a student teacher so
my knowledge on daily tasks of individuals could be expanded. I truly believe
this module will help a lot in the future.
Talk to you again,
Enjoy your day and remember to stay healthy.
